How it works

Hours = clock out − clock in − break. From 08:00 to 17:30 with a 1-hour lunch: 9 h 30 min − 1 h = 8 h 30 min.

Decimal hours are what you multiply by your hourly rate: 8 h 30 min = 8.5 h. Overtime and shift premiums are not included.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn minutes into decimal hours?

Divide the minutes by 60: 45 min = 0.75 h, so 7 h 45 min = 7.75 h.

What if I clock out after midnight?

Enter the clock-out time as usual (for example, 02:00): the calculator treats the shift as crossing midnight.

Can I use it for a timesheet?

Yes, to count hours. Overtime rules depend on your employer and local law.
